my doctor has given me duac and lymecycline... please help?

my doctor has just prescribed me to take lymecycline once a day for the next 3months, and apply duac gel once a day for as long as I like...
I have been using nicam gel for almost 2years and it hasn't helped my acne at all... my acne isn't as bad as some others but it's at it's worst on my back and shoulders. I've read quite a lot about lymecycline and been told it will make me break out very badly then slowly go down, and i've heard duac is very effective. I'm going on holiday in just over a month (38days) and I would LOVE to get rid of as many of my spots as possible... does anyone have any ideas? I was maybe thinking of not using the lymecycline yet and waiting till I get back from my holidays to start the oral medication, and just using the duac gel until then?
 
I suggest not taking oral medicines unless your acne is very severe and all topical medicines have failed.

There are significant risks to the oral medicines, the biggest one is, if you get sick, the illness will be resistant to whatever antibiotic you are taking, and therefore harder to treat. (It doesn't make you much less likely to get sick, except at first.)

Doctors know that using antibiotics for acne is a bad idea. But they work, and the unpleasant or dangerous side effects usually don't show up for a while.

Have you tried aspirin masks or tea tree oil?
 
well i suffer with migranes which make me sick quite alot so maybe i'll give the lymecycline a miss! thank you ever so much :)... i think i might just take the duac (as it is a topical medication).. x
