he probably did, but you ALWAYS have the option of going somplace else for ongoing care. no patient should be treated and dismissed like that when they are having symptoms like you are. i do know tho that costochondritis can be very painful since my hubby had this about fifteen years ago. we thought he was actually having a heart attack just becasue of the extreme pain this was causing. but after his doc checked him out, it was found to be only costo. did he actually Rx you anything to try and rid that area of inflammation?
when any doc starts telling any patient that their symptoms are being caused by 'just' anxiety or depression or simply stress, when you KNOW better or actually have, as in your case, actual Dx MRI to back up what you are feeling, its just time to move onto another doc who simply cares. as far as making any complaints go? well, it could cause you problems down the road with other docs too, you just never know ya know? would it actually do any real good either? i doubt it. this doc is just like a ton of other docs out there who LOVE to blame the patient for their own real symptoms. unfortunetly, not alot will actually change this idiots behavior or mindset. its just time to move onto someone who cares much more than this creep.
believe me, i KNOW just how much it sucks with any doc to feel disrespected or your symptoms not taken seriously too, been there done that one before. moving onto another more caring doc really would be much more in your best interest right now. just lose this stupid doc and get a better one. blow this off to experience and try not to dwell on one docs stupid ideals about patients. it really IS better for you in the long run to just seek out much better care. take this as a learning experience. you CAN write this idiot an actual letter about why you are moving on, just to know that you DID let him know how crappy you felt you were treated by a so called 'medical professional" but i really cannot see where making this a big issue would really truely help you i the long run,ya know?
considering the mechanisim of you injury(those air bags hit with sooo much real heavy speed/velocity)it could have very easily hit other areas too(but in a more "referred' type of way?). just where was that MRI actually done with regards to your body areas? was that swallowing and other symptomology there BEFORE that airbag deployment hit you?
do YOU personally have your very own copy of that MRI or did that doc simply 'tell you" what was found? believe me it can make a huge difference as far as what you find out actually reading your own report and what some patients(espescially when any specialist is giving you results)simply are 'told' by the doc. you just NEED to obtain your own copy of your results from that MRI and read thru them yourself. just look at the very end of your report in that summary at the end? this is where any real pertinent findings by the interpreting rad are just listed. considering the mechanism of injury(again) with ANY airbag deployment, it would not be beyond the relm of possibility to also have suffered some real c spine injury/affectation as well as chest issues too. that chest area just gets slammed with alot of force that can cause the neck to become injured in a very real way. you just need to read your own report to be certain that this area was actually checked into and what is actually listed as findings.
but personally,i would just blow off this doc and move on to someone else(you just don't need to sit and dwell on this, just move on for a real Dx of your symptoms instead). you just don't need a doc like this for any real reason,ya know? but DO check into what i mentioned above. you just really DO need to know what was found and what may still need to be MRIed, if they did not actually do your c spine area too.
i do hope this helped some. unfortunetly there are just docs out there who find it much easier to blame everything(espescially with women)on anxiety(the docs are simply lazy) or depression/stress, rather than just doing what it is they are getting paid to do for their patients, actually testing and Dxing a condition/problem. just moving on will help alot. you can always, once you DO get a real Dx form an actual caring knowledgable doc, send this 'wonder doc' a copy of the real dx for him to mull over. its one way to let him know that he was lazy, and an ass too boot. i doubt it would actually change his thinking patterns, but it sure as heck would make YOU feel better, with a little note about "this is what a 'real' caring doc did for me" thanks for nuthin?
just get out from under this idiots mindset about you and your symptoms and move on hon,you just DO deserve much better care and overall treatment right now. please DO keep me posted on what you find out. good luck, and keep pushing docs til you get that real Dx. sometimes its just up to us to be our own advocate since no one is going to do this for us. been there, done that one to death myself over the years with alot of major medical problems of mine and my sons too. just get angry(at being blown off) and just DEMAND much better overall care. you DO have that right.
