My daughter was bitten by a dog!!Help on some laws please.?

My daughter was bitten by a dog and the dog was on a leash, but it is a really long leash.Do you know if there is a limit on how long a dogs leash should be.What I am thinking is that the dogs owner did her job on having the dog on a leash but will I be able to do something about my daughter.I mean the leash was long after all.
 
If your daughter has medical injuries, the people are probably still liable. They have to be in control of their dog. If the dog was on a leash, and on the owners property, probably little you can do. If it was off their party, your only hope will be to get medical costs covered. You will need to go to small claims court. Most you can charge is about $5000, you will have to produce bills. Forget pain and suffering costs.
