...major concert tonight. Help!? She's 9 yrs old and since January, has been struggling with anxiety for the first time in her life. She's been very clingy, etc. I've seen a psychologist on her behalf and she's been making a lot of progress. For the last year, she's been practicing in a choir for this major event tonight with the symphony orchestra. Unbelievable but true, she got the flu (sore throat, coughing, fever). I'm so upset and so is she but not as much as me because the concert was making her nervous. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to see me from the stage. I think she's relieved that she's getting babysat. Now, I know this other mother who really doesn't understand her anxiety and I bet she'll be happy that my daughter isn't there (I feel some jealousy on her behalf). I want to be able to enjoy the concert without becoming too emotional or anything. Any suggestions?
Her anxiety is due to a bad flu she developed in November. Since then, she's afraid to vomit in public.
