My daughter in law called tonight she was very upset.?

Her oldest daughters birth father wants to see her. She is now 12. She doesn't want to meet him right now. She asked for my help. What should she do? My son is very upset and hurt over this. My son is the only father she has ever had. Jason the sperm donor,has been a real jerk from day one. My granddaughter lived in my house from 4 wks old until she was 3. It's a big mess. He didn't want anything to do with her when she was younger. Please help.
 
My son's dad is a twat as well. He doesn't pay any maintenance, and he comes and goes whenever it suits him, but I'd never get in the way of their relationship.

Unless he harms her in any way, then I would be encouraging them to have a relationship.

He might have been a jerk before, but people change, so hopefully he'll be a changed man.

If it was my child, I'd let them make their own decision whether they wanted to see their dad or not. I'd only step in if there was any kind of abuse going on.
