My dad won't let me ride a bike? and I am 15!!?

I can kind of understand his concern I guess, as I do live in the 3rd largest city in the UK and in not a very safe area which is urban and has a lot of traffic. But he never used to be so protective about it, and anyway I ride the bike safely, please help me on how I can explain things to him because this is causing long, heated arguements amongst us, and it is affecting my personal and social life because at this age a bike is my only form of transport, which is fast, quick and I enjoy ( I hate walking) and he also keeps telling me to where a helmet but they are wimpy and I don't want to where one!
 
You can't be very safety cautious if you refuse to wear a helmet. Your dad probably doesn't think you are mature enough and it sounds like he would be right. You need to rethink this safety thing, you have no control over what other people do while driving.
