My coworker/gym buddy lied to me! "fake friend"?

Me and my coworker have known each other for 3 years we haven't allways been on speaking terms. But we got really close as friends outside of work in march. I started going to the gym with him so he can train me. We did that for a good 2 months. During that time I ve done nice things for him paid for his lunch when we went out to eat. I and done a couple favor's for him while his truck was in the shop. I thought the gym thing was going pretty well with us, cause we were bonding as better friends. He even bragged to co workers that we were working out. I started working on his shift this pass week and that's when things changed. I offered to pick him up so he can save on gas, like he's done before with our other friend before he changed shifts. He told me he's gonna his truck. I knew somthing was up with him. Monday our mutual friend comes into work and stops to talk to him and I guess told him that he was gonna be able to workout with me more often now since we had the same schedule. He told our friend. That he canceled his gym membership. Our friend came and told me. I was like what he didn't even tell me! I asked him at the end of the day and he said yea he couldn't affford it anymore. I told him I understand wedneday was our last work day of the week and we went out to eat afterwards I told him I pay for him cause he's such a great friend. Our supervisor had a party Friday and I thought he was going but he said he was going to get his clothes ready for work cause he was going to do overtime the next morn so he wasn't gonna go. As I am on my way to the party I'm driving down the street and and i see him at the stop light going the same direction i pulled up next to him and rolled my window down and say hey. His friend and his brother was with him. I told him I was on the way to the party. And I guess I'll see him Sunday at work. We lost each other at the next light I got held up. As I proceeded down the street I see him at the gym parking lot they all were getting out the truck to go work out. I texed him and told him he lied about canceling his membership and that I saw his truck in the parking lot. He didn't text me back. I just want some understanding why he didn't wanna work out with me any more. Tomm we go back to work and I want to confrot him for lying, how should I handle this? What should I do? I don't think I can be friends with him now tho. We work together on the same line and I'm gonna check into changing shifts I just don't wanna look at him. I feel so used.
