My cousin is 38 weeks pregnant and having sharp pain in her...?

Vagina she is 3 cm dilated and having contractions on and off for a few weeks today she has had sharp knife like pains down in her vag she could be walking or sitting , she is waiting on her dr to call her back does any one think she is in labor ??
