i have a 1990 jeep cherokee and i had a leak somewhere that i didnt know where it was coming from../.. and today i drove it and opened the hood and i saw my coolant leaking from the CONTAINER WHERE YOU ADD IT. (like a little bucket ) The cap was a little loose, but still, it shouldnt be leaking and boiling..

What could possibly cause it????

thanx a lot

i think it would be the cap because the cap is rated at like 15psi or something its on the cap. you probably need a new one because its leaking air. coolant gets above the boiling point of water when its in your car but the cap pressurizes it so the coolant has a higher boiling point. so i would either get a pressure checker for your cap or buy a new cap. another problem might be that the gasket for the thermostat is worn out but im not sure if that would cause it to boil. your radiator could have a hole in it. one of the hoses could be leaking. your best bet is to take it to a mechanic. or you can turn your car on and wait for it to get up to temperature and see where its leaking
