won't recognise it! Y?!? It's annoying as I'm trying upload photos. It doesn't need special software to work as it worked with an older PC we borrowed briefly which had no relevant programs on it. The hard drive was recently formatted. Would that have affected it?

Hi,

No, I can't see why formating the drive would effect it.

Can you check that you really don't need a driver on the pc for the phone as it maybe that the other pc had one installed that you didn't know about it.

Check with the manufacturers website and see what they say regarding the usb to phone connection.

My guess is one of these:

1. Phones usually do need drivers to allow data transfer. Even if it worked before apparently without (maybe the other computer downloaded automatically from internet), you should check the support site for your phone' maker and check for USB drivers.

2. Phone is not in computer transfer mode. If you computer has internal memory or memory card (SD, memory stick pro, etc), usually there is an option in the phone's configuration to allow USB access to that.

3. Would be useful if you could tell us the maker and model of your phone.

The only thing i can imagine, is that the drivers for the same phone type might have been instaled on the computer you borrowed. Formatting the drive, should not afect this, but try to search google for the phone model and drivers.

One more thing: Even if it is a USB-cable, some usb gizmos can be incompatible wit some computers....

And yes: My keyboard sucks..
