my computer crashed?

im 90% sure it was a virus, it said i had virus lop on it, any way it crashed and the blue screen came up saying that windows had to shut my computer down to avoid damage etc etc. now when i restarted it the toshiba screen came up then the black screen it loaded the intel thing then went to the line, "press any key to continue", when you push any key it just restarts it self over and over, windows never loads.

so i have pulled my hard drive out, and i have a desktop, should i buy a case for the hard drive and find out whats on my hard drive?, will the virus spread on to my desktop?
