My Colonial Vietnamese Lunch

Vietnamese Pork stew and Escargot.

Thit kho which is a Vietnamese stew flavored with bittersweet caramel
sauce, ginger, anise, fish sauce, garlic, onion, white pepper and
lemongrass (and usually some whole hard boiled eggs). It's supposed
to be made with pork belly and/or spare ribs but I used pork butt.
Still very luscious if not as fatty.

Appetizer was broiled snails in garlic butter with French bread
(imported from France, no less). Sorry for the shadow - it was a
late lunch.

The pictures are still good. I think shadows are highly
underrated..they add interest to pictures.. ;)

I got some pork butt which I am taking back to CA with me this coming
weekend. Your stew looks good. I might have to find a recipe for it,
in my Vietnamese cookbook.
