my childs game goes into safe mode ...toolbar dissapears ... one icon is help does nothing how can i convert s?

its a game called fairies... i put the CD in and i go to my computer... open and it shows a play screen... when i play it she can play fine but as you click play... the desktop goes black for a second the game comes on but it goes into safe mode i think and then if you want to go back to desktop you have to click your browser button as NO toolbar is showing at the bottom.. its a pain in the back side... i watched someone once change this somehow ... but the game doesnt give me a menu options or anything just a question mark which fflitters a wand around the icons of the game... and the other icon ends game which goes on for ever
