My cellphone is silent. why?

I have a Pantech Matrix Pro phone and all of a sudden...there's just no more sound. I call someone and I don't hear any ringing. Someone calls me, I answer...and I don't hear any voice on the other end. And it's not even on silent or anything. and the volume is up all the way. help.
