My cat had a severe reactions to Advantage topical solution (for fleas-vet. issued not over the counter). When I put it on him he started going nuts! That was 4 months ago! He had a wound about the diameter of a baseball on the base of his neck by the time I got him to the doctor. It was raw like white raw. The doctor put hiim on steroids and an antibotic because it initially got infected and he had a fever. Since then he's been on 4 rounds of this stuff. I don't think that's good for a cats little body. Each time, he's almost healed, and almost all of the hair grows back (and has a tiny tiny little scab) he scratches at it again and reopens it up! Not as big as the first time but enough (this time the diameter of a golf ball urrrrrr)... I'm so fustrated. I can't put a cone on him because its right on the back of his neck. I've cut his claws and "tried" putting little baby socks on him, but he just rips it off. Same thing with cat clothing, it just slips down by his neck and he freaks out since it rubs against it. Anyone have a similar experience? How do I help my poor little guy? He's only 2 1/2 years old.
In response to JEREMY: Why would I put hot sauce on my cats OPEN wound?! Do you do that to your open cuts and soars?
He's an indoor cat on a second floor house, no fleas. He had gotten out of the house one evening, and I got the advantage to make sure he didn't bring back any fleas, worse idea I ever had. So no fleas or ear mites...
