We have been feeding this outside stray cat for years, and after that blizzard hit and we couldn't find him we got scared. Eventually he came back and we started letting him in, and he seemed fine. But then he started becoming very lethargic, puking, and now lifeless sleeping, and now he is breathing loudly while making painful faces every time it looks like he's about to puke. At first we put him back out thinking that was the problem, then brought him back in, I finally talked my mom into taking him in to get help (He is very old from what she said) but I'm not sure if he will make it till then.
It is 1:42 am right now and the vet isn't open. So I have to wait, and I really hope it doesn't come down to euthanizing him, since we fed his father (who ran away from neighbors) for several years (His father reproduced with another cat we think since this one bares an uncanny resemblance, but this one was neutered by the neighbors which kind of pisses me off since I wanted him to have a 3rd generation kitten to take his place!)
Update: it is 1:57 am, I heard him stop gasping and went to check him, noticed no breathing and I tried to get him to breathe..he died. I tried giving him CPR, but I gagged and couldn't. I learned an important lesson tonight, THERE. IS. NO. GOD.
@Mijlolvespooks that was uncalled for. I loved that cat and we named him Tom, we couldn't take him in since we already have 2 dogs and a cat (who we brought in from the outside), and we are already in debt just taking care of bills, and continuing to feed stray cats that happen to get lost or wander over from the neighbors. (The grey cats father belonged to the neighbors across the street) we would have taken him in sooner to the vet but it seemed he was getting a LITTLE bit better, and we weren't sure how to afford it, good night.
Oh and it was mouth to mouth CPR (nasty.)
and the reason we didn't call a shelter to take them in, is because ours put them down if no one adopts them, and I think that is in fact crueler.
One more update, we will try and bury him tomorrow in the ground, even if I have to dig through the 1-2 ft snow, I will personally dig his grave. As for the religion thing, part of me wants to stay with god and religion, like I just can't turn away if I tried. Anyway, thank you for showing concerns.
