Hello. About a month ago I changed a pulley and serpentine belt on my 1999 Camaro with 104,000 miles.
Today I drove my car for about a block and then the same symptoms of a belt coming off happened. The steering got tight, alternator voltage dipped, overheating etc....
Ok I opened the hood and found the belt slight folded on one of the pulleys. I drove about a block to Strauss to see whats up. The mechanic said that probably the belt tensioner needed to be replaced.
The price the mechanic told me was too high, I can get something cheaper tomorrow. The mechanic then kindly put the belt back onto the pulleys. Car was fine.
Is it possible my belt sustained any damages. The belt is only a month old and did not appear shredded. It was in the pulleys, not on the floor and when the mechanic put in back on, it was fine.....
