My car wont start unless, i directly jump the starter, JEEP Wrangler 94?

Ok so my ignition got stuck in the start position today and the starter was screeching really loud and it took me forever to get it out of the start position. Now my car wont start unless i directly put power to the starter. What could be the promblem, i drive a 1994 jeep wrangler yj with a 4 cylinder. It seems like the ignition is turning ok but im not sure
