my car starts but the gas pedal dont wrk, y?!?!?

i have a non vtech 97 honda civic coup dx with 300,000 miles on it.. so heres the story, the othrr day mmy car needed a battery chargin so i charged it at autozone.. wen i put my batt back in my car it started right up. wen i stepped on the pedal to give it gas nothing happens (car doesnt move when i give it gas).. can someone tell me y this is happening!!
 
Is the throttle cable broken? The engine should rev up when you press the gas pedal, if not have some one look at the throttle body and see if the cable is opening the throttle when you press on the pedal. If there is no movement then the cable may have broken or become detached at one end or the other.
