My car squeaks when I'm reversing?

I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra and when I reverse my car squeaks loudly. Could it be the brakes? or something more serious?

You need brake work. It's making that noise because that's what they do when the friction material is worn out.

It could be the brakes. When your are going backwards, the wheels are turning backwards, and ot the brake pads are being rubbed in the opposite direction they normally are. Not that that should cause noise, but it could be that your pads are worn, or loose, and rubbing.
