I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima with a Standard Transmission. Besides changing the oil every 3000-5000 miles and such, what else can be done to ensure my car lives as long as it can. It's got around 172,000 miles on it, I got it from my mom at the beginning of this year and I want to make it last throughout my college years. It's had to go to the shop before multiple times, but that's because unfortunately my mom didn't really know how to take care of it. What can I check on and do regularly to ensure it lives another 100K miles or so. I'm a complete noob at cars and what not, but I really want to learn about it, so any advice that could help me let me know.
