my car hood wont pop open!!!! 1985 cadillac deville?

my hood latch broke where it connects to the lock under the hood!!
that means that i can not jiggle the latch and have someone sit on the hood or hit it while pulling. that does nothing.
i also took off the grille and tied to get at it that way with pliers so thats not working.
i also tried to go after it from the other side of the radiator where the engine is. that did nothing but scar up my hands an make my shirt dirty.
i have broken a part of the plastic to try to get my hand under it but to no avail....also my battery is dead so i cant take it anywhere it get it looked at so any help would be greatly appreciated
 
a broken hood latch is a real pia/ a dead battery makes it worse. BUT you can still recharge the battery. But you have to be a little bit careful.
The red positive battery cable is attached to the starter motor. Put the charger under the car and attach the red charging wire on the same post as the red battery cable,,,and put the black wire on a metal part of the motor. Just make sure the red cable does not get grounded. then plug the charger on.
