That's just great, ryan. Just generalize your knowledge on Fords overall. Thumbs down for that.
The 3.0L "Vulcan" engine in these front wheel drive Fords is the exact same 3.0L found in the Ford Rangers even though Rangers are rear wheel drive. You say you have kept up with the car's maintenence, but were not specific on this. On my 3.0L a couple of years ago I had a miss at idle. I did a plug and wire change. Upon removal of the plugs I measured and found each plug gap to have opened up significantly from what the factory specified. Factory gap is .044 and all of my plugs opened up to .080. PLEASE, go to the link below and you will see the pictures I posted when I did my plug and wire change. If you have not tackled this issue then this is a cheaper means of narrowing down the problem doing the work yourself. In recent years auto manufacturers claim 100K miles before tune ups are necessary. Platinum plugs just allow for longer service between tune ups. Do NOT allow your car to go that long without checking the plugs. It's much better to check the plugs yourself every several thousand miles to prevent this issue from happening. My 3.0L only had 68,995 when I had the idle miss. Go to the link below. Hope this helps.
