...550 extra miles.? My car broke down and roadside assistance towed it to a local mechanic who had it 3 weeks. He kept telling me he had to check out a few more things. When I picked it up, it wasn't there, the owner who showed up 5 minutes later driving my car. I noticed the tank was empty and showed him a receipt showing I filled up a mile from breakdown less than an hour before the tow was ordered. he said he would knock the gas cost off of the bill but had to test it out. when I left and stopped to refuel, I reset the odometer as I always do, I realized that there was over 550 miles on the tripometer. My car gets about 275 miles per 10 gallon tank which tells me he was driving around for quite some time. Should I confront him? File a complaint with the BBB? Complain to my Insurance company who told me either he fixes it or I would have to pay for another tow? While waiting for my car I had to drive around in a 13 mpg full size pickup. A heli-coil repair should take only 4 hours per my mech.
