My camera says the memory card is full, but it doesn't display any images. Why?

I recently purchased a Canon EOS Rebel T1i, and I am trying to use a memory card that I had for my old Sony Lumix digital camera. I'm not sure if this matters, but the memory card is a SanDisk, and it holds 512MB. Is that memory card compatible with the Canon? If so, is there anyway I can clear our the memory card? I'm kind of a newbie at this, so any advice would be helpful. :)

512MB is a total waste to try using with a T1i. Just go out & buy a SanDisk 4GB or 8GB card; they're cheap enough & can hold more pictures.

The odds are your Canon can't figure out what to do with the files from your Panasonic (not Sony) Lumix so it just shows full. Push the "Menu" button, move to the "Wrench" tab on the screen, move down to format, push the OK button & say yes. That will wipe out your card & show you how few pictures it will hold. Make sure the card isn't locked if this fails; that keeps you from adding or removing anything from the card.

No it doesn't matter about where it's been but, have you tried formatting the card in your Canon?
If it won't let you do anything, format or take photos, buy a new card... this one is toast
