My browser history has disappeared and I don't understand exactly where, in tools, to

sounds like someone has deleted it. if you click on tools, internet options. check that the box hasn't been ticked to clear history on exit of your browser. you can also click on the settings and change how many days you want explorer to remember your history. other wise it has more than likely been manually deleted.
