my brake light wont turn off -1986 toyota corolla-?

here's the problem my brake lights wont turn off with out me having to push up the brake pedal. so every time i leave the car i have to wedge it with a stick otherwise it would kill my batt. like it did many times before. It use to be just every night i leave the car i just push up the brake pedal then BAM there off! and i also now i gotta nasty habit of pushing them up every time i push the brake's after i change gears also....but the problem got worse and now they wont go off for anything...i need help..it's obviously the pedal....lol

Brake light switch has a rubber stop,it broke off,can be adjusted or replace new switch.
 
Go to a junk yard and get a petal assembly off one of their cars. Bolt it on to your car, and you will be good to go. If not you are looking at more serious problems, but I really think it is the petal assembly. My guess is that the return spring is either broken or missing. If you want a temporary fix, try hooking a bungee cord to the top of the petal, and wrap it around the steering wheel, or something under the dash.
