My boyfriend says he doesn't like fat people who are fat because of their

lifestyle. Help!? Also, his family makes "fat jokes" all the time. I love him and his family, but the jokes make me really uncomfortable. I am skinny, but my father is overweight. On top of that, the jokes are insensitive on all levels.
His family is coming over for dinner in May after my little sister graduates from high school, and I'm worried that he and his family will judge my father for being overweight.
What do I do?
 
He and his entire family are jerks. Give him enough rope to hang himself--if you let them come over they'll make fools of themselves and you'll hate him so much you'll break up with him. Or you can tell him now, and when he still doesn't change (and he won't), you can eliminate the middle man and give him the boot right away. What's your responsibility--the feelings of your own family or bending over backwards to accommodate this bunch of clowns?
 
If he loves you he won't judge your father for being overweight... However totally off subject but I feel the same way about fat people. I actually think that we need to like send them to fat camp or something maybe boot camp, but I work out a lot and have a really fit body because of it... I have no respect for fat people, and also the Army makes sure that you are not fat, (I am in the army).

wow. sounds like a tough situation. i would just have a talk with your boyfriend and let him know that you feel uncomfortable when him and his family make jokes about people who are overweight. and ask him to talk to his family about it. this might help ease the tension a little bit. hope the dinner goes okay! best of luck!
