My boyfriend and I have been dating for 4 years, and for 2 1/2 of those years, my boyfriend was still hanging out with his ex-girlfriend (who he dated for 6 years). About 6 months ago, my boyfriend agreed that he would no longer speak with her on the phone when I said that I was not willing to date him if this friendship continued. The reason this became necessary was that as long as they were speaking on the phone, he kept expecting that eventually, I would be "okay" with their friendship and with their hanging out (although I made it clear that this would NEVER happen). I found out, through devious methods, that my boyfriend has spoken on the phone with his ex several times since promising not to, but didn't tell me and deleted the call records. This whole thing makes me feel like I can't trust him at all, especially since so many of our trust issues relate back to this particular ex. How would you react if your significant other did this?
