My boyfriend hasn't talked to me since we started going out eight days ago... help?

Hello. Me and my boyfriend are both fifteen and freshmen in high school. My boyfriend was born in France and moved to America six years ago. He knows English completely and he's in all honors classes. Eight days ago he asked me out, and that's the last time I've talked to him. Occasionally in school, I'll say, "Hi, John!" and he'll say, "Hi," back with no real enthusiasm except for a [forced?] smile. I really like him, he was nice when we used to talk all the time before we started going out. He won't accept my facebook relationship request and sometimes he completely avoids me in school. A lot of people say he's shy except for within his little group of friends, but my friends talk to him all the time. I can't break up with him... I like him so much. Do you think I should stay with him? Is over a week too long to deal with his silence? Please help! A lot of my friends say "We'll talk to him..." but nothing ever works. And my ex-boyfriend keeps dropping hints that he wants me back and I'm a little worried that's also affecting John's silence; since they're friends. Any help is appreicated! Thanks.
