My BMI is 27.9, but I exercise a lot?

I have been kind of chubby my whole life but I wouldn't call myself over weight. I am an exercise maniac and I swim, run, walk and situps etc... So my question is can there be any exceptions to the BMI result? 27.9 proves that my weight is kind of off what it should be, but I exercise heaps. I am really fit but I am a bit of a fatty. Like don't imagine a polar bear or anything, I just have a few extra inches around the edges here and there, lol. I do eat quite a lot for dinner, but I only have dessert on weekends and I NEVER snack. Breakfast is fine and so is lunch (well, lunch on the weekend is sometimes a bit too much but you can't blame me I have to enjoy my life). My mother dearest gets overly offended when ever I ask for a change in portions too, lol. So yeah, I guess I have gone off track a bit and I am just complaining, but back to the point. Can there be any exceptions to the BMI result?
