My Blackberry's media card?

Every time I turn my phone on, it says the media card needs to be formatted, so every time I go to format it, the screen freezes up and I'm forced to take out the battery. Everything that was once on my memory card is now gone, and I can't access it by plugging my phone into the computer either. Ugh, please help! I want my ring tones and pictures back :(
 
if you have the storm and you are running it on the software that they launched it with you need to take it to a verizon store and get updated or go to Options Advanced Options then Wireless Upgrade then check for upgrades and do it from the phone. THE BEST THING TO DO is go to Radio Shack and get a micro SD adapter (USB adapter) put the card in your pc then format it in the pc. Storm supports up to 16 GB card if your card is more than that it may not be able to read it. Hope this helps.
