My black ghost knife fish is?

What looks like to be sleeping. Do they sleep in the day. Could it have been that I have only just got him and he needs a rest after moving home? He is not dead he is moving around slowly but on the ground appeared to be asleep?
 
yes he is sleeping, they rest. and only come out at night, they may come out in the day to eat, once it adjusts to its new home
