hi guys,

as a child/teenager I used to love cycling and could cycle for hours. when I was 18 I used to have a bike I would cycle 15 minutes each way to work. after 3 years not using it I put on A LOT of weight, like 6 pounds, got the same bike to start cycling and exercising but the seat is now unbearable, its not just uncomfortable, it seriously hurt my butt in a way I can not seat, tried to make the seat higher and low but still not good at all, tried to use it for 5 minutes, gave up and can stil feel the pain in my butt as if someone cut me, is it cause I am heavier? how can I sort this out? thanks
sorry guys, its not 6 pounds, its 6 stones! could i be the reason?

Any sporting goods store, bike shop, ebay, online stores, etc. Get yourself a newer more comfortable seat. For 15min rides, you can get a good comfy one for like $20. I have one on my bike that I got at Dick's for $24.99, it's a little wider than a standard mountain bike seat (not as wide as most others though), but it is well padded and also has a couple small spring/shock isolators under it. I have been using it everyday now for a couple months with a minimum 5 mile straight ride no breaks and love it...and I am also 6'6" and lil over 300 lbs. Plus, it looks almost exactly like the stock mountain bike seat I removed, hardly noticeable...but way way more comfy...and very affordable...took a 9/16ths wrench and about 10 min to install. Hope this helps!

The real reason is that you need to get use to the saddle again. You use you sit bones to support your body on a saddle. You want to start taking short rides until you get use to it again. Keep at it and you will get use to it again. People who take the winter off have to go through the same thing each spring.
