my bike is not able to get into gear and stay can someone help me, it a 1987 gsxr 750?

i rode it this morning, then i noticed the oil was low so i put some in, when i tried to start it again it ran, but i could not get it into gear to make it go. it stayed in neutral the whole time. im guessing its the clutch, but im not sure. any suggestions.
 
first adjust the clutch[ I assume you have a shop manual] or with the motor OFF try to rock the bike back and forth while putting it in gear. Clutch plates might just be stuck.However that usually only happens when a bike sits for a long time.
