It is a natural thing for a male betta to bite the female betta when your trying to breed them.

you should have put the female betta into a clear plastic cup and let the male betta see her for at least four days before putting them together. This will reduce the attack when they actually breed.

the male betta is suppose to wrap around the female betta to push out the eggs and fertilize them at the same time.

if the female lay eggs on her own the eggs will never be fertilized and will be eaten by both male and female.

also take out the female betta after they have breed or she'll eat the eggs.

let her lay the eggs, and take her out of the tank, THEN put the male in... if you put them at the same time then they'll start fighting

Bettas are like that-only one fish really should be in a tank at a time(unless you have a divider). Male bettas are very aggressive, so really it's normal.
