...agreements between roommates? ? It all started in May when I met with L and K, my supposed roommates. I also met with my landlord J to go over the lease, rent, and everything else. Since, I was just coming in at the last min to help keep the rent down, I did not sign the lease, nor did I get a copy of the lease. The 2 people who are on the lease are L and K. Keep in mind that there is a clause in the lease that I found out in whoever moves out, the people left on the lease are responsible ?

Flash forward to August and Im literally driving with my stuff to Macomb and I call L to let her know that im on my way and she says, oh its just gonna be you and me. K moved out because he got arrested for domestic battery against me. So now, its down to 2. Through the semester, L gets MRSA and drops out of college with incompletes. There is a couple themes, all the bills are in her name. She doesnt tell me about the bills and whats due untill they are really high. The verbal agreement with the rent is that I give L my part of the rent and she gives one big check to my landlord. In Nov, I give her $285 in extra money for bills. I go home for Thanksgiving Break with her and when I return, she says shes going to come back to pay the rent. 2 weeks go by and finals happen, she never comes back. ?

The week of finals, I decide to open the bills, there is a delinquent notice for $37.45 for water, which eventually got turned off. The electric/heat bill is over $900. I paid $150 towards that bill toward October. Maybe its me but with these bills being so high, I doubt if anything got paid. Plus, L has the nerve to ask me if she could put all the bills in my name. A very shady move. ?
J my landlord has been real cool with me and she just said pay your share of January's rent and you can stay untill you move into the dorms, which is my intention to get away from the madness. L says I would still owe her money for rent and bills if I moved into the dorms because we made a verbal agreement. Ok, there are at least a couple things that would show her incompetency in paying bills and being a good person so in my eyes, the incompetency nullifies the verbal agreement. ?
