Please read this sad story and offer your advice!

I have pain in my right side that radiates to my back and under my armpit. A lot of times it feels like my bottom rib is floating and will wobble back and forth. It started about three and a half years ago. It's gotten better but it comes back. I also don't drink and have blood tests regularley.

I have an extremely stressful job at a law firm. About a year ago my husband was in discussions to transfer to a city in the Northeast for his job. A city that I liked a great deal and would allow me to leave my job. As we got closer and closer to the deal, my back pain eased up. One day I said to him, "I think I've beat this back pain. I've been pain free for days on end at a time." Well, the deal fell through. And the pain returned right away, first in my sternum, and now back to my right side, under my armpit and accross my back.

I do a lot of yoga and aerobics. When I am working out, the pain usually disappears entirely. I also have two young kiRAB and I'm always bending over to pick up their toys or pick them up.

I know it sounRAB like I am crazy. I just want to live a pain-free life and my doctor has few answers left for me. Also, my husband says I am neurotic and transfer all of my stress to bodily pain.

Thanks,
KR :*(

Hi and welcome to this board. Stress can effect us all differently, and I know when I'm stressed, I have a spot in my back that just knots. And it's not in my lurabar area where I am fused either.

Having said that, it is possible you have something more going on in your spine than just it being stress. Have you ever had an MRI of your Thoracic spine? If not, you should request one be done. This may not even be back related and you are getting referred pain there from something else going on. But your pain sounRAB indicitive of possible thoracic disc issue or a fracture in the region of your spine, or facet joint issue possibly.

This could just be aging of your spine causing this issue. You may hear the term "DDD, which is degenerative disc disease". It's a condition not a disease and all humans have it at some point. It's just the spine drying out and the aging process. For most, it causes little to no issues, and others really big problems.

But if your doc has run thru his bag of tricks by now and you still have not gotten to the source, it's time see a specialist. I recommend a spine ortho to really diagnose you.

Good luck and please keep us posted.:)

Yes, she's right! an MRI would be the first step. I am currently working on the second step which is dealing with my MRI results and trying to get a specialist that will help my problems. Good luck, I know the pain. I can feel it right now.
