I had my baby on Wednesday afternoon and am having some breast feeding problems. I am on the verge of going to get formula, but i dont want to give up on her. However, I HATE seeing her not satisfied. It is killing me. I started out having latching problems in the hospital and got some help from the nurses. One of them said that she thought my baby's bottom lip is so skinny that she sucks it in with the nipple. The nurse gave me a nipple shield to try and it seemed to work a lot better. Now we are at home and my baby seems like she just cant get anything out. I dont really know how nipple shields actually work by my nipple, when hard, only comes to about halfway to the end of the sheild. I dont know if this is causing the problems. However, it seems like my baby is getting a lot of air and it is filling her up. We can almost hear it when we rock her to sleep, which isnt easy either by the way. She just is not satisfied and even when I finish trying to feed her she starts sucking her hands and screaming like crazy. I am almost at the point of going to get formula and trying to pump and just doing that from now on. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
