my android phone wont save any of my contacts?

ok my phone(the samsung transform) runs android 2.1 and every time i save a contact it says contact saved but i look for a number in the contacts book and it says you have no contacts on this phone.when i go into my messages and type the name it gives me the number.how do i get my phone to show me my contacts in my contacts book
