My A/C doesn't blow on the driver's side of my car. How do I fix it?

Your mechanic friend told you correctly except for the cost to get it fixed, its more like 300-500. But if you want to try yourself open the glove box, most of the time just press the sides in and it will fold all the way down out of the way. Once this is done you can see the fan/blower motor houseing behind the glove box area. This is where the flaps are located. You can try moving them with the little metal arms from the outside of the plastic box if yours have them and sometimes this will actually work, but most of the time they just get worn out and have to be replace. Hope that helps.

I have an '99 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Recently my A/C stopped blowing cold air on the driver's side vents. It sounds as though, something is blocking the air. Everything on the passenger works fine.

A mechanic friend of mine told me it's a programming issue with "doors" that open for cold air and close for heat. He says they've been closed and need to be reopened. I don't know the exact terminology. I was told I have to take to the dealer to have it fixed, for about $100, but I'd rather do it myself. Can anyone give me a few tips as to how to attack it? Where exactly are these "doors" located?
