I have a 98 Ranger with about 186k on the engine. Since I've had it it has made a strange rattling/clicking noise almost exclusively when going uphill. There might have been a few times when it did it otherwise, but to the best of my memory it is mostly when I accelerate going uphill. It doesn't always do it then, either.
So far as I can tell the trucks performance hasn't decreased over time, nor have there been any problems with it using oil. I've had the truck for over three years and it has been doing this. Just curious as to what the problem might be.
