My 98 Ford Escort Zx2 is misfiring and backfiring.?

When it is cold it doesnt do this until after driving it for a bit or on a warmer morning. You hit the gas and it shutters and then once you go for a bit and have to stop in traffic and hit the gas it backfires every once and a while. The diagnostic readout was misfire in cylinder #2 and a O2 sensor need replacing.
Ok, well the O2 sensor isnt causing a backfire I figure its the injector. ??? Im stumped
