I'm going to assume you have coolant/water mix in your radiator and coolant resovoir. Check to see if there are any leaks of coolant. If there are, get them fixed immediately. Also make sure your fans are turning on after the needle reaches halfway. If not fix this. You will most likely have to replace the thermostat at this point. Also check for proper drive belt tension. If the belt has too much "slack" this will cause the water pump to not turn as efficiently as it could. Overheating will cause cylinder head gasket damage and can destroy other components as well. Do not keep driving it if it overheats until it is repaired!
