My 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee after stopping it feels like the auto trans goes into neutral and nothing happens.?

When I turn off the Jeep & let it sit for a day it seems like the auto transmission starts working correctly & then it happens again. Checked all the fluids in the tranny & transfer case & all are within specs.
