my 94 pontiac grand prix starts and dies why wont it run?

i have a grand prix it will start and then it dies almost immediately i need to find out the cause, it has a new fuel pump fuel filter and all new spark plugs.
it only runs for like 10 seconds even with a fresh battery
 
my dad's 94 pontiac did the same, he bought a thing i think it's starter fluid or something with starter/starting and its liquid.
