My 93 Toyota Camry keeps dying while idle?

I own a Toyota Camry and it dies while idling at lights. It will start shaking after sitting idle any where from 30 seconds to about two minutes, once I try to accelerate from being stopped it immediately cuts off fuel and dies, and I'm able to restart it after about two minutes. The check engine light never came on. I had it taken into a shop. They said the EGR valve need replacing at a huge cost.

It didn't seem that they knew what they were doing, so I had it sent to another shop. The second shop said that they found that the EGR valve was loose and reattached it, however this didn't solve the problem. The mechanic said it happens most often when it is humid outside. They suggested the ignition coil needed replacing and a general tune up. They gave me an estimate of $600 to fix it with parts and labor, but they didn't seem to be sure it would fix the problem. Is there anything else I should have them check? What about the IAC? What else could be done if the coil is the problem besides replacing it altogether?
