...there was no pressure. problem? The car will not start, its not the starter or alternator. when i opened a the main gas line under the hood there was no pressure even when i tried to start the car no gas sprayer out. there are no noticeable gas leaks however you can smell some gas while you drive near the gas tank. Do you think it might be the fuel pump or bad connector?? or anything else i am not thinking of. also the same day i changed my thermostat if that helps any. and i checked all the vacuum lines everything is hooked up right.

I think you are right on track.sounds to me like the fuel pump.It doesn't have anything to do with the thermostat. If your car has an electronic fuel pump,it might be as easy as a blown fuse so check all your fuses and if any are blown replace it with the same amp fuse as the one you took out.

sounds like a fuel pump problem the pump is probably completely gone. question...did you ever notice any problems or differences in the way the car was running before it died? a way to check the fuel pump is to disconnect the fuel line near the pump and try starting your car hopefully it still cranks. If a good amount of gasoline is still spraying out the line then the pump is still good but if little or no gasoline is coming out its definitely the pump.

It sounds like the fuel pump may have gone bad. and i think the fuel pump is in the tank which is a pain to get to to change. the other think i would try and look at would be the filler hose from the tank to the outside of the car. if you smell gas it could be coming from there. I had that problem on a ford ranger. my filler hose Had a hole in it. changed that and no trouble with smelling gas now.
