I suffered with quite bad acne from the age of 9-18. I tried all the "off-the shelf" treatments and soaps, i tried facepacks and even antibiotic medicine prescribed by my GP. I had oxytetracycline which had no affect and made me ill and then erythromycin topical lotion and pills and vancomycin. All of which were of little or no use. Then, at 18, i went to a private dermatologist. He suggested a powerful and risky drug by the name of Roaccutane. I agreed to give it a go and was one the drug for 3 months. I was incredible, My spots rapidly left my face and chest and back even the pot marks on my face appeared significantly reduced. With 4 months my face was clear and my skin was soft a in good condition.
So if anybody is suffering like i was, and nothing seems to work, i strongly recommend roaccutane. It is very expensive, has many potential side affects and can only be prescribed by a dermatologist but it has worked like a miracle cure for me and my skin is still clear 18 months later despite occasional lapses in personal hygiene. I also suffered no side affects other than dry skin and a dry nose. It is not to be taken lightly but it has really worked for me.
One word of warning, if you become easily depressed then think twice, it can cause despression. It didnt affect me but it hasb een to affect people. I personally found my spotty face shoulders, chest and back far more depressing than the effects of the drug.
