My 75' Yamaha DT 175 dirt bike engine turns but wont start?

Its spring again and i felt like riding my bike this weekend. I cleaned out the gas and put a new spark plug. Just a side note my kickstarter doesnt work. When it was time to push start it, just as i was letting go of the clutch to start the engine, a loud BANG spark came from the muffler. The engine has good compression, but im not sure what the problem would be. It was running fine last fall when i last rode it. Any help on how to fix this would be great. I believe it might be the points that fouled but im not sure. Thanks.
 
Most likely your carb is gummed up, but, try draining the float bowl first to get the fresh gas into the carb. There is a screw or bolt on the bottom of the carb just loosen it and let the gas drain out, then refill and try to start again, if it still doesn't start it probably carb cleaning time for you.
